WHO IS A HERO?

SPIDEYY

So, I'm going through this “Spiderman obsession phase” at the moment, so I figured I’d dedicate this piece to our friendly-neighborhood Spiderman :)

“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.”

For starters, Spiderman, is not merely a superhero, he is an emotion to many of us. A clumsy, lonely and pretty uncool teenager Peter Parker suits up to save the world and his neighborhood. I think this really boosts many of us up, we’ve all felt left out, clumsy and have been self-doubting at some point, so the mere hope of being destined for something big, really boosts my self-esteem.

Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland have definitely poured life into these characters and I seriously adore all three of them for that.

Speaking about Spiderman- No way Home, a film that hit the theatres December 2021- I am so in awe of the plot, character setting and the CGI incorporated in the film. I think it was an absolute feast for all the Spidey fans out there. What’s truly remarkable is that this film has brought so many people back to the theatres after the pandemic, so many including myself :)

Well, if you were to ask me the theme of this movie, that has become one of the top grossing films of all times, I would say nostalgia.

In my opinion, it is this nostalgia factor that has connected people to this film, emotionally.

As mentioned afore, Spiderman is an emotion to many of us, we’ve grown up admiring and adoring this masked man, and so being able to watch all the Villains and Spideys share the same screen was definitely a trip down the memory lane.

“With great power comes great responsibility”

From Spiderman 2002 to No way Home 2021, every trilogy has conveyed this value. This simply means that if you have the ability, or the powers, you ought to use it wisely and for the greater good.

Ooh and not to forget MJ’s wonderful quote from this film, “If you expect disappointment, you can never really get disappointed.” I think that this really applies to all of us, given the phase we’re going through.

No way home is like the one piece that we needed to complete a gigantic jigsaw puzzle. This MCU film finally confirms the idea of a multiverse, which is very exciting, because it cracks open up countless possibilities, idea and theories.

The best element in ANY marvel movie, is the post-credit scene. And imagine having two post-credit scenes, let’s just say I ended up with a sore throat the next day.

I think my takeaway from the movies is that superheroes are also mere humans, nothing more, nothing less.

All of us have this hero within us, when you are truly selfless and are ready to put your people before your needs and yourself, that is when you unleash this hero within yourself.
